My heart breaks for the ones that have to migrate away from their homes. Thousands of people from the Mid East look to take refuge in Europe. Even the United States will receive these people in need. We hear about the political unrest and the threat of I.S.I.S. in Syria. The situation in Syria has many layers. One of the reason for unrest in their homeland is environmental stress. Syria had an extreme drought between 2006-2011, and President Assad’s regime mismanaged how to deal with the drought and its effect on the land and its people. Much was left unstable.
Our planet’s carbon strained environment is poised to cause many to flee regions that will become unlivable. I express concern of the heart, the love chamber we have within. We have become divided on so many issues. Finding expanded compassion will become our saving grace. We must all be ready to find a way to love one another and go beyond our differences and fears. And most importantly, care for our planet and its people.
